Vespa of Charlotte opened its’ doors to serve the scooter enthusiasts early
in year 2002. Joe Bitzan, a Charlotte businessman, decided to introduce a
European accepted method of travel to the people of Charlotte. After
discussing the idea with friends, business associates and his family, Joe
left Corporate America and opened the first Vespa Scooter Boutique in the
Carolinas.
The new concept of scootering was slow to catch on, but as time passed,
the business grew each year and additional scooter brands were added to
the showroom to give the customers an even greater choice of scooters.
The dealership now carries five brands (Vespa, Piaggio, Kymco, Genuine,
and Moto Fino that feature 50cc to 500cc engines, color choices of silver,
red, black, pink, blue, yellow, burgundy and plum; with prices ranging from
$1,100 to $9,000.
Near the end of 2006, another Charlotte businessman, Stephen Speer,
purchased Vespa of Charlotte with full intentions of expanding the ideas,
concepts, policies, and the business itself that Joe Bitzan had steadily
grown over the years.
Unlike other retailers of scooters in the Charlotte area, Vespa of Charlotte
dedicates all of its energies to selling and servicing just the scooter
industry. We do not sell motorcycles, ATV’s, boats, used cars, discount
food, or automotive parts. We do provide maintenance service, body
repair/paint service, parts, and accessories for the scooters we stock.
